Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge (PAATC) is a nonprofit, faith-based drug and alcohol addiction treatment center serving adults and adolescents in Rehrersburg, Pennsylvania. The center offers comprehensive mental health resources, psychiatric services, training, and aftercare. Their range of programs includes crisis management, medically assisted detoxification, inpatient and outpatient programming, and specialized services for clients with co-occurring conditions.
Medically assisted detox at PAATC helps individuals with severe addictions detoxify safely and comfortably, under medical supervision. This process may involve FDA-approved medications to ease withdrawal symptoms. After detox, individuals may transition to residential treatment for continued care.
The residential programs at PAATC provide structured addiction treatment for both short and long-term periods. The short-term program lasts 30 days and includes intensive services designed to uncover and address the underlying causes of addiction. The long-term program offers extended support and comprehensive activities, such as ongoing counseling, spiritual guidance, ministry opportunities, individual and group sessions, and family support.
PAATC’s outpatient counseling services adopt a faith-based approach to help clients unlearn self-destructive behaviors and recommit to a relationship with a higher power. Customized treatment plans may include recreational activities, family programming, counseling, aftercare planning, chapel time, outdoor activities, and spiritual guidance and mentorship.
Before completing treatment, clients meet with their care team and family to develop a comprehensive aftercare and relapse prevention plan. This plan may include attending outpatient support groups and regular progress meetings with treatment counselors or a pastor.
PAATC offers various payment options, including self-pay and private insurance. They are likely in-network with most private insurance plans, but clients are advised to verify coverage with their individual providers as out-of-network benefits may vary.
Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), PAATC has been a leader in addiction recovery since its founding by Reverend David Wilkerson in 1958. Initially focused on intervening in the lives of addicted young people, the project expanded to include vocational training and moved to a 16-acre farm in Rehrersburg, known as “God’s Mountain,” which remains their main campus today.
Today, PAATC offers faith-based, comprehensive treatment programs to men and women at their Rehrersburg and Western PA campuses. For those unable to commit to residential programs, outpatient services are available through the Naaman Center with locations in Elizabethtown, Quarryville, Elizabethville, and two locations in Lancaster, PA.
PAATC’s philosophy is rooted in core values of Faith, Compassion, Dignity, and Excellence. They believe that addiction fragments and breaks individuals, and their mission is to mend that fragmentation and make individuals whole again. This mission, inspired by the teachings of Christ, aims to bring wholeness to the hopeless, a testament to which are the hundreds of men and women who have successfully completed their programs.
At PAATC, they believe that through a relationship with Jesus Christ, there is hope for recovery for everyone struggling with substance use disorders and dependency issues. The dedicated team at PAATC is proud to offer a safe place for recovery based on the solid foundation of the teachings of Christ, providing hope and wholeness to those in need.
